Woody flooring plants are perennial, but as they continue to grow, they increase for many years. They have one or more permanent stems background and numerous smaller branches. Stems and branches have a strong woody core that supports the plant and contains vascular tissue for transporting water and nutrients. Inside the woody core is a layer of tough, protective bark, which has landfalls in it, soil, and roots.
