One of the reasons I love joining this Sports Mockery team is because there are so many guys there covering the details. There are so many guys there covering the X's and O's and they're doing a good job. Dave and Ficky are really good. Eric gets every, every story covered. So I don't find the need to write about matchups on game day. I don't find the need to write columns about the X's and O's. I've actually never enjoyed doing that anyway, but now I don't have to. What I can do is look at a game like this one on Sunday and say something very simple. And this is my game preview. Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams, go win. If you want to be taken seriously, if you want to send the message to this fan base, to this media, to the city, that this is different, that a new era of Bears football is beginning, there is only one way to send that message. And the only way to send that message is to win. I don't care about anything that happened Monday night against the Vikings. The details of that game are inconsequential. It is week one of the season. What is consequential? They lost. Again. And the Bears have been doing an awful lot of losing lately. So Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams, the whole crew, you want to make this feel different? Go win against the Detroit Lions. Get to one and one and start to build optimism around the franchise. Because if you lose, even if it's close, even if it's high scoring, there's going to be a lot of us sitting around going, here we go again. Go win.
