Today is Monday, September 15th, 2025, and I hope everyone had a good night's sleep. Sometimes I like to post the recordings on Sunday like that or post something on Sunday because I do think there's some fun in getting the genuine emotion of the moment out. And yesterday I was pretty down in the dumps, but not down in the dumps because the bears lost. Down in the dumps because for 20 years as Da Bears Blog, I'm just so tired of seeing the same thing and so bored of saying the same thing and so bored of writing the same thing. One of the reasons I made this move to mockery and left the old brand behind was I just couldn't imagine writing the same columns again on a Monday in September. I couldn't imagine writing the same columns in January about what we can learn from the playoff teams. I just couldn't do it anymore. And resorting to this audio format allows me a little bit to just sort of riff and not have to sit there with a blank screen and create dynamic fucking prose. Where are the Bears right now? It's bad, right? Nobody is going to argue yesterday's performance has positives, but put yesterday's game into context. The Lions were coming off a bad loss in week one. The Lions have a championship roster. The criticisms and questions about the Lions were about how would they recover losing both coordinators. But that roster that they have there is a Super Bowl roster. That is a 15-win team from a year ago that just couldn't sustain defensive injuries. And they were desperate and they were angry and the fans were into it. And that's what happens sometimes when you run into a gauntlet. The Bears got embarrassed yesterday. There's no question about it. But having some perspective now, that kind of makes sense. What the Bears face now at 0-2 are the Dallas Cowboys and the Las Vegas Raiders. Neither of those teams, neither of those teams is anything more than mediocre. Ben Johnson, Ryan Poles, Caleb Williams. The narrative on this season can completely flip in two weeks. This team is favored Sunday against the Cowboys coming off a 30-point loss. They're favored. That's how little respect Dallas has in Vegas. You win this game Sunday. Go beat the Raiders the week after. All of a sudden, you have a season heading into your bye week. That's how narratives can shift in the NFL. Is Sunday a quote-unquote must-win against the Cowboys? You better believe it is. This team goes to 0-3 and that's it. And it's not about playoff possibilities. It's about an apathetic fan base no-showing the rest of this year. They cannot go to 0-3. But if they go to 1-2, the energy and enthusiasm for that Raiders game will be palpable because everyone will know a season is possible. This thing is not dead. This season is not dead. But the Bears have a week here to recognize what is taking place and put an end to it. And that falls to the coach and that falls to the quarterback. Russell Wilson just threw for like 500 yards against this Cowboys defense. This Cowboys defense should be ripped apart at Soldier Field next week. And if they're not, and if the Cowboys walk out of Soldier with a win, then everything we're saying about Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams is going to escalate. This should be this offense's coming out party and this should be the moment where they give us hope for a potential season. It's not dead yet, but it's dying. Sunday, Cowboys. Late afternoon. Let's see if there's guts in this organization.
