For those of you who have followed the Bears blog low these 20 years, you will know that I love Mark Silverman. Sylvie has been a hugely influential part of the growth of the Bears blog all these years. He has mentioned us on the radio when he didn't have to. He has cited us in columns. I feel like he's a friend of mine in a lot of ways, even though I've actually never met the guy. In reading his column yesterday, he made really good points about why the Bears should play starters in their first preseason game. And I'll be honest with you, any other week against any other opponent, I might agree with him. I might say, you have changed the attitude around this team. Go out there and play this game. But in this case, this specific case, I can't agree with him. And there's two reasons why. Number one, they're joint practicing here on Friday. It's a huge difference to joint practice with the team before you play the preseason game. They're going to work on everything they want to work on in this practice. They're going to go over situations. They're going to go over all those things you want to see Sunday. They're going to do that on Friday. But two, nobody on this Dolphins team is going to play. Tua is always hurt. A-Champ is always hurt. Waddell is always hurt. You are going to be going out there on Sunday and playing against the second team. So what are you even going to gain from it? They should play their starters in the second game, maybe even play their starters in some of the third game. I'm with you. I don't care if they play them on Sunday.
