Monday December 8th 2025 and I'm gonna tell a little bit of a personal anecdote today that I think tells the story of where this franchise sits in the month of December. I watched this game yesterday with a couple of friends who I've been watching Bears games with for decades. Watched it at Josie Woods in the city. Had an old-school feel to it. We hadn't been together probably since before COVID. And the first half happens and there was a little bit of a pull. There was a little bit of a, oh we're kind of getting our comeuppance here. We had our big week as the number one seed. Now one of the best teams in the league is sort of showing us the ropes. But then the second half happened and I saw something on the faces of my friends I hadn't seen in a long time. I felt something in myself I hadn't felt felt in a long time. We expected to win. As that second half progressed we expected to win the game. And that is what Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams have instilled in this franchise. I know it hurts to lose. No one likes to lose sporting events as a fan. It's not fun. But you have to be objective today. And I wanted to see how this game was covered nationally before I sort of weighed in this morning. And it was actually covered by Bill Simmons, by some folks at ESPN, by some folks at NFL Network. It was actually covered appropriately. Everyone is saying the same thing. This is an impressive loss. They went on the road, Chicago Bears, to a team that believes they are going to be in the Super Bowl this year. Certainly believe they're going to be in the NFC Championship game. Mortgage their future for Micah Parsons to make that move this year. They went on the road as touchdown underdogs and had the ball and a chance to win. That is what Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams have instilled. It is not perfect. This is year one of the project. But the project is an undeniable success. This is the most optimistic I have been coming off a loss that I can remember. Because you saw yesterday that this team is no longer a fluky eight and three, who have they beaten, blah blah blah. This is one of the best teams in the conference. And there's nobody in this sport, there's not a single team in this league that the Bears can't go up against and compete with and beat. Not a single team. It's a wide-open league. And now we enter the final month. It is a difficult stretch of games, right? They've got to win Sunday against the Browns. That is the easy game because then it's the gauntlet coming home. But coming off yesterday, and I know that the people in Chicago take these Green Bay games way too much to heart. That's one of the advantages of being a Bears fan born and raised in New Jersey and lived in New York for 25 years. I don't, Green Bay doesn't really mean anything to me. But what I saw yesterday and what my friends saw yesterday and all the conversation should be very clear. This is a Bears team that is building something special. Because they finally, finally got the coach and the quarterback. And we expect now to win on Sundays. And that is a great development.
