Sunday, December 21st, 2025. There are a lot of podcasts, columnists, reporters who are going to try to take a big picture perspective on what happened last night. On a phenomenal Bears win at home over the Green Bay Packers. That usually is the role I take. That usually is how I approach the game. Today I'm going to approach it a little bit differently. Because I thought there was a moment last night in this game that's not going to be talked about and should be. Fourth down, Caleb makes the brilliant throw to Walker. Walker makes a brilliant catch. They're down one point, half a minute to go or whatever it was in the game. Everyone expects in that moment for Ben Johnson to go for two. Everyone expects in the modern NFL that if you have a chance to win the game with a two point conversion, at that stage of the game, you do it. I'm saying to the cats on the couch, kick the extra point. And I'm vehement about it. I'm saying kick the extra point. Take this thing to overtime. Everyone expects them to go for two and they kick the extra point. And the reason why is very simple. In that moment, Ben Johnson knew he had the Packers beat. In that moment, he knew that if they go to an extra frame and they line up team versus team, his team was going to win the game. In that moment, Ben Johnson knew. Yes, it was a backup quarterback on the other side, but Ben Johnson knew I've got the guy for the moment. And he did. Last night in all its endgame craziness was an evening, evening of the playing field. Last night was the game where the Bears announced to the Green Bay Packers that the bullshit is over. That the decades of dominance on the Green Bay side are over. That if you want to continue to run roughshod over us in this division, you're going to have to bring it every time you see us in our building, in your building, it doesn't matter. And last night was the game that cemented the 2025 Chicago Bears season as one of the greatest. One of the greatest in the history of this organization. Now, that's the regular season because the narrative flips down. Now it's about, are we winning this division? Now it's about, who are we playing in the postseason? Now it's about, can we win the whole damn thing? Because I said it last week and I'll say it again this week. Watch these games and you will notice there is no dominant team. There is no team without a serious flaw on their roster. The number one seed in the NFC has a quarterback who in big games likes to throw the ball to the other team. Do you not think that problem would rear its ugly head against this Bears team? This is a season now that has the potential to be when we talk about the rest of our lives. And last night was the kind of game that, that situates itself perfectly in that narrative. How about, how about the poetic justice of after having that horrible moment against Cincinnati with the onside kick, we get it back. And one other thing about last night, and I don't want to harp on this because it's negative, but I need to say it. What do all of you people gain from tweeting incessantly during a football game? What do you gain from these emotional outbursts and what have you not learned over the course of this regular season? You don't stop. People I respect, people I used to edit, people who are good at this. Tweeting the craziest shit as if the game was over in the third quarter. Have you not watched this team play? Have you not followed the narrative of this team all year long? Are you so ingrained in the stats that you've lost touch with the moments? This team has given us everything we could have asked for now in 2025. They have given us every bit of the thrill that you want as a fan base. And now the question is, can they give us the legend? Can they give us the storybook finale? How far can they take this? And right now, I don't know the answer. That's crazy. But right now, as I sit here on a Sunday morning, and if you told me they were going to win the Super Bowl, I'll tell you what, I'm not going to argue with you. Because this team just has it. They don't quit. They're never out of a game. And they are an absolute pleasure to watch each week. And for that, we have two people to thank. The coach and the quarterback. And I hope those of you who still are in the verdict is out on the quarterback, I hope those of you who feel that way understand now we have a special guy at the most important position in sports. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. You're watching the games today on this Sunday. You're rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers. That finalizes it, but let's be honest. This team is going to the playoffs. And this team is going to be a team nobody wants to play in the playoffs. And to say that on December 21st is shocking even to me. Everybody have a very good Christmas. Bear Down.
