Post-game audio. Bears-Giants. Game just ended. Bears won. And for the first time, I think, in my lifetime, I am going to say something out loud. The Chicago Bears have a franchise all-world quarterback. I don't know how it happened. I know something happened with Carolina a few years ago, and a bunch of weird trades took place. But my God, watching Caleb Williams play football today was one of the purest joys I have had as a Chicago Bears fan in these 43 years of life, 41 of them as a Bears fan. Drop after drop after drop after drop after drop. Did I get to eight yet? Drop after drop. Every player on that offensive roster letting him down, drive after drive. And what does he do? He says, fuck him. And he puts the entire organization on his back in the fourth quarter and wins the game. We have waited. Some would say impatiently. Some would say patiently. But we have waited generations for a guy like that to play this position in this city. And now we have it. And because we have it and we've got a crazy bastard head coach to go with him, we're going to be in games that we have no business being in. And today was one of those games. The Bears were bad in so many facets today. And yes, they got a little bit lucky. The Jackson-Dart injury. I don't think they win this game if Dart stays in. He was just running through them. But that's not our job. The Bears are playing with their seventh corner. I'm not going to feel bad for the other team getting injured. This game was won today for a singular reason. Because the Bears, for the first time in the era of modern football, have that guy at that position. And the future could not be brighter for this organization. We can go in on Zacchaeus. And believe me, I'll have some time this week to talk about that guy being on the roster anymore. Play Burden. Play Loveland. Play Odunze. Get these vets off. If you can't catch the football Zacchaeus, what is your role here? But right now, let's stay big picture. And the big picture is, there's a star quarterback in Chicago. I've said this many times in my DeBears blog days. Maybe I haven't said it here at Mockery. Roger Goodell used to say all the time in the league offices that the untapped resource in the NFL is a star quarterback in Chicago. Well, they've got one. And today, I said it last week, I thought that final drive against the Bengals was his breakthrough moment. Well, if that wasn't his breakthrough moment, this was. This was the star's arrival on the stage. This was Judy Garland dangling the legs off the front of the stage. This was the diva moment. We've got a star quarterback in Chicago. And for the next 10 years, we are going to be relevant week in, week out, Sunday after Sunday, because he's here. Welcome to modern football. Bear down.
